Yesterday, the moment came for Cambridge to take on the 'old enemy' Oxford rugby style. I love visiting big famous stadiums. So witnessing a truly unique day at Twickenham was something else.
The day started with a cosy affair as a few thousand watched Oxford take victory in the Under 21 match featuring a couple of guys I know from Homerton. What an amazing - moment of a lifetime - feeling it must have been to actually play at Twickenham infront of your mates!!
And then 34,000 people turned up to watch the big one. The atmosphere grew and the banter between rival student fans got going. After trailing 16-8 in the second half, Cambridge powered back to take a 22-16 lead with just over 10 mins left. We were in for a nervous final 10, as Oxford pushed forward in search of the try and conversion that would see them victory. But Cambridge fought hard and held out. Great stuff to cap an enjoyable day.
